Golf Ball Retriever 50 Years Old Fiber Glass
This is a collector's item.
In 1973 I was employed at the Conolon Corp.
,
a subsidiary of the Garcia Corp.
and a sporting
goods conglomerate during that period of time.
The president of the company approached me and asked
me if it was feasible to make a golf ball retriever
out of fiberglass that would be longer and more
sturdy than the ones that are currently on the market
at that time.
I think he knew it could be done with out any
problem but would be way to expensive from a
marketing aspect to add it to our current product
line.
I think he just wanted to overawe
his fellow golfing companions with something out of
the ordinary.
He said he loved being out
on the water fishing but hated being in the water
while golfing and was losing way too many golf balls.
So I designed and made 2 retrievers, one for him to
impress his golfing buddies and one for me to test.
About 2 months later he brought his back into the lab
all crushed.
I asked him what happened and he smiled
and said he didn't want to discuss it.
About a week later
the rumor was that he had a bad day on the course and some
how by accident the golf bag ended up under his car wheel.
So, this particular ball retriever design is the only one
in existence today on this earth and it was made in 1973.
This would be an extremely idiosyncratic conversational
piece of equipment for your fellow link walkers to feast
their eyes on to say the least.
The collapsed length is at 52"
The extended length is at 15.
5ft.
It has 4 telescopic sections.
Because of its unique aspects and functionality
