Controller – Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team and play a crucial role in our financial management and success.
As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations within our organization.
You will be tasked with maintaining financial health, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making.
You will report directly to the President and will collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Provide accurate and timely financial reports to the leadership team, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends.
Present financial performance to stakeholders, explaining variances and providing insights to support strategic planning.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and monitor the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads and leadership.
Provide financial projections and forecasts based on market trends, company growth, and economic factors.
Assess budget-to-actual performance regularly, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and making recommendations to improve financial performance.
Evaluate cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements to optimize overall financial operations.
Assist with investment analysis and support business development initiatives.
Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.
Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process.
Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
Systems and Process Improvement: Continuously improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
Identify and implement relevant financial software and tools to support data-driven decision-making.
Tax Efficiency and Exposure Reduction: Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize the organization's tax liability while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Continuously monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, and proactively adjust the organization's tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
Collaborate with external tax advisors to perform tax planning, compliance, and audits, ensuring accurate and timely filing of all tax returns.
Identify potential financial risks and exposures related to tax matters and implement measures to mitigate these risks.
Managing Multiple Financial Entities Within One Organization: Oversee the financial operations of multiple entities within the organization, including subsidiaries, divisions, or affiliated companies.
Ensure the consolidation of financial data from various entities and maintain accurate and transparent financial records.
Coordinate financial reporting and analysis across entities, providing insights to leadership for decision-making.
Implement and maintain standardized accounting policies and procedures across all entities to promote consistency and compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A Master's degree or CPA qualification is preferred.
Proven experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role in a business of similar size and complexity.
Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
