Job Summary and Qualifications GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under a combination of administrative and executive direction, the Anesthesia Service Line Chief Financial Officer provides leadership and directs the overall financial operation of the Anesthesia Service Line consistent with policies and objectives established by Physician Services and HCA Healthcare leadership.
The CFO plans, organizes, applies, directs, controls and evaluates all financial resources, systems, and assets invested in the service line.
The CFO uses all resources to generate measurable returns to benefit the company, the community, the physician and most of all, the patient.
The CFO directs financial and other department activities in accordance with defined Line of Business policies and financial objectives.
The CFO, in partnership with the President of Anesthesia Services and the CFO- HBP, actively leads anesthesia strategy deployment and operations to establish HCA as a premier clinical organization.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Responsible for ensuring fiscal responsibilities are fulfilled for the HBP Group which includes $100M in direct managed revenue and $1.
2B in Joint Venture (JV) managed revenue.
Develops and reviews financial trend reports across 225-250 JV managed programs to validate financial results.
Supports internal HBP consulting teams with financial tools and employment analysis modeling.
Administers the financial, and statistical reporting functions of the line of business in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.
Oversees the compliance of Internal Controls, Cash Controls, and other policies such as those found in the HCA APGs.
In coordination with PSG Central Accounting, the CFO will manage the audit review process including the implementation of corrective action and follow-up for final resolution.
Assists the Group/HBP Vice President and the Physician Services CFO in the development of long and short range line of business operations plans which may include analysis of: service demand, staffing/resource utilization and cost benefit of proposed program expansions.
Develops long and short range operational budgets which are supported by the line of business and hospitals strategic plans and objectives.
Prepares budget variance analyses, and recommends operational changes as required.
Assists VPs and managers in the development of departmental budgets, and monitors, interprets and analyzes financial performance by service line.
Identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, initiates recommendations for action, and directs the preparation of internal financial reports to assure that the reports reliably reflect the financial position of the organization.
Leads analysis of reducing line of business operating costs and increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports, managed care strategies, and operating procedures.
Responsible for direction and submission on a timely basis all financial data required by Physician Services and Corporate office.
CFO will assist in identification of new service line opportunities and expanding existing service lines across the company.
Directs the preparation of line of business metric reports, budgets, and financial reports.
Leads a team of six financial professionals.
EDUCATION: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years current financial leadership experience in a healthcare environment is required.
Knowledge of financial management, analysis, principles, techniques and managerial skills.
Requires progressive experience in senior level finance roles with a minimum of 6-8 years of Management experience in healthcare finance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of HCA Information System is highly desirable.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to Sr.
Leaders both internal and external.
Must be able to work in a “matrix management” role with HCA Shared Services in accounts receivable management, materials management, payroll, IT&S, Clinical Services Group, Hospital Division and Group Operations, and others.
Must have ability to develop and lead a strong financial team.
